THE DAILY AI INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING
Briefing ID: 26-091
Status: Confidential
Hello, Fellow Human. Time to upgrade.
I recently read a LinkedIn recommendation that described someone as “an incredible professional, a strategic thinker, and a true team player.”
That person may have been extraordinary, but unfortunately the recommendation provided no evidence that I could use to evaluate if they would be a good fit for me.
There were no business results, no difficult problems solved, and no measurable improvements. There was no clear explanation of what made this person different from the other 14 million “strategic team players” currently roaming LinkedIn.
The recommendation sounded positive, but it did not make the person more credible to me.
I see this issue with most professional recommendations. We remember the emotion of working with someone, but we struggle to translate that memory into concrete evidence. So we reach for familiar praise: reliable, innovative, collaborative, dedicated.
Those words are not wrong, they are simply incomplete.
A strong recommendation should help a reader answer five questions:
What was this person responsible for?
What challenge did they face?
What did they specifically do?
What changed because of their work?
Why would I trust them with a similar challenge?
And this is exactly where AI can help you.
Now, you may be thinking you cannot trust AI because it may “hallucinate” and invent impressive-sounding achievements or stuff the recommendation with corporate adjectives. Even worse (and I have seen people use AI to do this), you don’t want to turn your former colleague into a fictional combination of Steve Jobs, Oprah, and the person who invented the weekend. 😉
Used well, AI can perform the heavy lifting of interviewing your memory, organizing the evidence, identifying the strongest examples, and drafting the recommendation. You provide the essential last mile of the firsthand knowledge, judgment, accuracy, and final approval.
The result is not merely a nicer paragraph, but a compact executive case study of someone’s value.
Let AI interview you and help you uncover those nuggets that make the person stand out, then help you tell the story.
Let's go raise your AIQ.
