THE DAILY AI INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING

Briefing ID: 26-119

Status: Confidential

Hello, Fellow Human. Time to upgrade.

I have a habit that is both useful and mildly dangerous. When ideas start coming, I write all of them down. ✍🏼

A new workshop concept goes beside a client follow-up, a newsletter idea lands next to something I should fix on a website, and somewhere in the middle, I remember a person I should call, a process I want to improve, and a project that suddenly feels terribly important because I thought of it five minutes ago.

Capturing ideas works but treating everything I capture as a current priority does not. And that is where my troubles begin.

A brain dump can make you feel productive because you have finally emptied your head. Unfortunately, the resulting list often combines several completely different kinds of work. Some items are urgent and some could create substantial value. Some need more thought, while others are merely interesting.

But when you put them all in one list, your brain tends to treat them as equally eligible for attention.

AI helps you examine the entire pile at once without becoming emotionally attached to the clever idea you invented during lunch.

I call this the High-Agency Focus Filter.

The filter asks AI to evaluate each idea using a few practical questions:

  • Does this matter now?

  • Does it support an important goal?

  • Can meaningful progress happen with the information and resources available?

  • What happens if it waits?

  • Does it require your judgment and concentrated attention?

Those questions create four useful destinations.

Focus Now contains projects that deserve protected time and serious effort.

Schedule Next holds valuable work that matters, but does not need immediate attention.

Develop Further catches ideas that may have promise but still need research, clarity, or a decision.

Backlog or Drop gives everything else a safe place to live without competing for today's attention.

The last category may be the most valuable. Putting an idea in a backlog does not mean it was bad. It means you made a decision about when it deserves attention.

That is what is called high-agency work. You decide where your attention goes instead of allowing the newest idea, loudest request, or longest list to decide for you.

AI can handle much of the sorting and comparison. Your job is still the important part of choosing the priorities, questioning the assumptions, and deciding what actually deserves your time.

Let's go raise your AIQ.
