THE DAILY AI INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING
Briefing ID: 26-096
Status: Confidential
Hello, Fellow Human. Time to upgrade.
I was not good at negotiating. I avoid conflict and would typically give up to easy and early. Then I got trained on honing my negotiating skills and it’s a whole new world today!
Here are some of the catch-phrases that would previously take control of me:
“We can probably move a little on price.”
“We might be able to adjust the timeline.”
“Could you reconsider that requirement?”
“We’re almost there.”
In many cases, they had been “almost there” for weeks. And my conflict-avoidance radar was blurting, “RED ALERT!” 🚨
When you get to this point in a negotiation, neither side is really negotiating anymore. They are trying to avoid being the person who finally says, This is as far as we go.
And boy is that a lot harder than it sounds because a final-offer message has to perform two jobs that seem to contradict each other:
Close the negotiation.
Keep the relationship open.
Lean too far toward preserving the relationship and your “final” offer sounds suspiciously negotiable.
Lean too far toward firmness and the email starts sounding like something your attorney should have reviewed before you hit Send.
This is a perfect example of where AI can do some of the 90% heavy lifting while you retain the 10% that matters most: judgment.
You decide the boundary and AI helps you communicate it without ego, irritation, accidental threats, or seventeen paragraphs explaining why you're right.
The trick is to provide AI with context like the negotiation history, the non-negotiable terms, what flexibility remains, the relationship you want to preserve, and exactly what should happen next.
Then have AI perform one more valuable job:
Challenge the draft before you send it.
Ask whether anything sounds threatening, emotional, ambiguous, passive-aggressive, or unintentionally negotiable.
That's human-AI collaboration at its best.
When used well, AI isn't deciding whether you should walk away, it's helping you walk away professionally if you decide you should.
Let's go raise your AIQ.
