THE DAILY AI INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING
Briefing ID: 26-109
Status: Confidential
Hello, Fellow Human. Time to upgrade.
I’ve noticed something strange about busy weeks. By Friday afternoon, I can usually tell you what I accomplished, but I have a much harder time explaining where all the hours went.
The obvious work is easy to remember, like the presentation to the board, the client call, the project deadline, or the problem that landed in my lap at 10:17 Tuesday morning.
But the smaller time-sucks hide better, like the twenty minutes spent looking for an old document. That is one of my worst times of the week…
Then there was the meeting that needed three people but had nine, aAn email rewritten four times because the message was never clear to begin with, and a report that required the same formatting work we did last month.
As I look back, fifteen minutes here and thirty minutes there can quietly consume a meaningful part of my week.
That is where I discovered that a Friday retrospective becomes useful.
The purpose is to inspect the previous five workdays while the details are still fresh, identify where time was consumed without enough value in return, and choose one improvement for the coming week.
AI is especially useful here because it can organize scattered observations faster than I can. Give it your calendar notes, task list, or a simple recollection of the week, and it can look for repeated work, unnecessary handoffs, avoidable meetings, manual steps, and tasks that might be simplified.
This connects directly to Time Value ROI in the AIQ Return on Intelligence™ (AIQ ROI™) framework. The useful question is not simply whether AI saved a few minutes, but knowing whether reclaimed time can move toward work that requires more judgment, creativity, coaching, decision-making, or relationship building.
A word of warning so that you don’t fall into the same trap I did:
A retrospective can become an exercise in criticizing yourself for every unproductive moment. Be aware of this and avoid it because it produces very little useful intelligence.
Instead, treat the week as data where you look for patterns you can change.
Maybe you discover that three status meetings could become one written update. Maybe AI can create the first draft of a report you rebuild every Friday. Maybe a recurring task needs a reusable template. Or maybe nothing needs AI at all, and the right answer is simply to stop doing something.
Ten minutes is enough to find one useful improvement.
Run the review every Friday, and you start collecting something even more valuable than saved minutes. You learn how your work actually works.
Let's go raise your AIQ.
