THE DAILY AI INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING

Briefing ID: 26-114

Status: Confidential

Hello, Fellow Human. Time to upgrade.

I have seen workforce planning meetings where everyone carefully reviews headcount, open positions, turnover, and budget, yet nobody asks one surprisingly basic question:

Can the people we already have actually do the work our next set of goals requires?

I have seen departments that look perfectly staffed on an organization chart while still having a serious capability problem.

Suppose your Q4 plan requires a marketing team to improve attribution reporting, automate campaign workflows, and build more personalized customer journeys. You may have enough marketers, but that tells you very little about whether the team has strong enough skills in analytics, automation, data interpretation, and AI-assisted content development.

That distinction matters because every capability gap does not require another employee.

Some gaps can be closed with targeted training. Others may justify temporary expertise, cross-functional support, or a new hire. You cannot make that decision very well until you separate the work your strategy requires from the skills your current team can reliably provide.

AI can make that analysis much easier.

Give it your Q4 goals along with a sanitized description of your team members, roles, and demonstrated skills. Then ask it to identify the capabilities each goal requires, compare those requirements against your current roster, and build a Department Skill Gap Matrix.

And the more useful part comes after the matrix is developed.

Ask AI to classify each gap based on whether you should build the skill through training, borrow it from another team or outside expert, or hire for it because the capability is strategic, recurring, and currently missing.

You still make the decision. AI does the analysis, while you provide the business judgment about people, priorities, timing, and risk.

That is especially useful heading into Q4, when an ambitious plan can quietly depend on capabilities nobody actually owns.

Give today’s prompt a try.
